  • As part of the registration process everybody identifies their target mileage for the month of September – a target that feels right for them. The actual miles tracked can be through popular apps such as Strava or Garmin; alternatively, if individuals do not have access to such apps then they can self-declare the kilometres they have undertaken manually. If you are estimating steps then use 1500 steps as the equivalent of a kilometre (For an average person, one kilometre usually requires around 1,300 to 1,500 steps. This estimate can vary depending on a person's stride length, which can be influenced by factors like height, leg length, and walking speed. Generally, a shorter person will have a shorter stride length and might take more steps to cover the same distance than a taller person.)

  • Yes and No to that one. We want the funds raised to help charities supporting children in poverty or those who need extra help worldwide. The charities must be listed on Just Giving to enable the sponsorship to go directly to the charities. Within that definition then we want you to choose the charity that is local or most meaningful to you. If it is helping support children and is on Just Giving, then yes, select your preferred charity here.

  • Set a kilometre target that works for you—whether it's 1 kilometre, 10, or even 100! Choose a goal you can achieve during September 2025 (30 days).

Think you can go further? If you normally walk 1 kilometre, aim for 2. If you usually cover 10, push for 17!

Already part of a club or tackling your own challenge? Dedicate it to this cause—it’s a win-win!

We’re travelling the globe sustainably—powered by you. Every kilometre counts, whether you walk, run, cycle, row, swim, use a scooter, or mix it up!

Register for just £10 (plus registration fee), then set up your fundraising page on Just Giving to support a local children’s charity of your choice.

Schools are free to enter with a £2.50 admin charge.

Save the Results Base link where you register in your favourites - for those uploading kilometres manually, or uploading their strava summaries, this will be helpful during September. For those using Garmin to track their kilometres the good news is this will synchronise your kilometres automatically!

Share your page, rally your network, and invite others to join the challenge. Let’s make every kilometre count!

  • Please see step by step instructions by clicking HERE.

  • We want to encourage inclusivity and engagement, so we are charging adults £10 each plus £0.50 admin fee and schools are free to enter with a £2.50 (+VAT) admin fee to cover the fees charged by the platform providers).

  • Yes, you can choose to participate as a team or an individual. Either way you need to register via Results Base.

  • You can only create a profile on Results Base if you are over 18, so we suggest the head of the school or club creates a profile and registers for the event.

    The school/club can register as:

    - First Name: ‘School

    - Last Name: ‘Full School Name

Then, you can take the mileage at the end of the week of the children as a collective and upload this.

  • Whilst you have already been entered automatically for Challenge for Change, we highly recommend that you take the time to link a Garmin account to your entry. That way all of your run distances will be automatically pulled into Challenge for Change without the need to add in each one manually.

How to link your fitness tracker:

    1) Click the button below, and log-in to your ResultsBase profile.

    2) From the menu on the top right, select ‘My Area’ and then click ‘Your tickets’ from the drop down list.

    3) In the list of tickets that pops up, find your ticket to Run The World. Select ‘Changes’ and then click the ‘Link Garmin Connect account'

You should then be able to link your Garmin Connect account to your entry.

Please note that if you use a tracker other than Garmin then you will not be able to link that account directly to Challenge for Change. Instead, if you use Fitbit or a similar fitness tracker, then you could create and link that to a Strava account first, and then manually upload your strava map to Challenge for Change. If you don’t use a fitness tracker then don’t worry, you will still be able to add your distances manually once the event starts.

  • Yes, participants can choose what is right for them. The legitimate activities are active and sustainable (ie not power driven) and include walking, running, cycling, swimming and electric scooters for the less mobile participants. Alternatively activities where you can track your steps such as dancing, indoor cycling etc are also viable options.

  • We are a team of volunteers that have given up their time to plan and execute Challenge for Change. There is no organisation or business as such so please bear with us in terms of answering any questions you may have.

  • Challenge for Change is linking the following systems as effectively as possible however each system has a separate and bespoke purpose:

Challege for Change website - specifically built to communicate what the challenge is and how it works

Results base system is a bespoke system used by multiple companies and charities to register, track and engage participants during team challenges

Garmin is linked to Results Base via an API to enable synchronisation of kilometres for those individuals who have the devices.

Just Giving is the entity that processes sponsorship funds for the participants to their selected charities

Merchandising - tbd but this will be a company (or companies) that specialise in merchandise and develop a shop portal for participants to purchase merchandise should they wish to.

  • You can only raise money on JustGiving for an organisation that is already registered on the site. At the current time, only charities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and Ireland can join JustGiving.

There are 3 possibilities in this situation: 1) Support one of the global children’s charities that is on Just Giving 2) Do local fundraising (although the registration fee/merchandising will be allocated to the top 10 engaged on Just Giving) or 3) Focus on the kilometre challenge and don’t fund raise.
